Hank Williams III to Release 4 New Records full of Country, Speed Metal & Doom Rock

Shelton Hank Williams III (A.K.A. Hank3) is known for being a music outlaw who has always blended in Country Music, Hard Rock, and Heavy Metal. Many of you may know him for being the grandson of Country legend Hank Williams and the son of Hank Williams Jr. He was also the bassist of Superjoint Ritual, who also featured Phil Anselmo (Down) on vocals. Today, he is one of the most prolific artists in Neotraditional Country in a Country music market dominated by Pop Country. Hank3 is also an active member of Hardcore Punk Arson Anthem and Punk Metal band Assjack. Here is the Official press release about Hank3's 4 new records:

The unprecedented launch, in a distribution partnership with Megaforce Records (MRI), features a broad range of music that bridges more than one head-thumping genre - a familiar theme that true Hank3 fans have embraced for years. Ghost to a Ghost/Guttertown, a double-album set, is a straight-shooting country collection, flavored with Hank3's trademark hellbilly sound, and heavily weighted with Cajun influence (especially on Guttertown) and an ambient, lonesome mood - and a few very special guests.

Two more releases are Attention Deficient Domination and 3 Bar Ranch Cattle Callin - intensely metal-driven records on which Hank3 plays all instruments. Attention Deficit Domination is a pressure-dropping, doom rock statement that has been anticipated by his hardcore fans for years, and Cattle Callin explores a new mind-bending "Cattle Core" sound, featuring Hank3's speed metal woven in and around actual cattle auctioneering.

All three projects were recorded at The Haunted Ranch, Hank3's home and studio that lies on the outskirts of Nashville - a fitting place since the town has never really known what to do with this grandson of the American icon. He finally parted ways with Curb Records January 1.

"I have musical freedom. I'm able to say 'Here's my record' and I don't have to go through a million different channels just to put out a song," he says. "It's all me now."

Hank3 wrote the lion's share of the songs that appear on the 41-track Ghost to a Ghost. The players are Andy Gibson on steel guitar and banjo, who also aided in its recording, David McElfresh on fiddle and mandolin, Zach Shedd on standup bass, Daniel Mason on banjo, super-picker Johnny Hiland on guitar, Billy Contreras on fiddle, and Rory Hoffman on accordion.

Guest appearances include the mythical Tom Waits on the haunted "Fadin Moon" from Guttertown and on the Ghost to a Ghost title track, Alan King of Hellstomper, Les Claypool of Primus fame and beyond, Dave Sherman, Troy Medlin and Hank3's dog, Trooper.

Cuts such as "Guttertown," "Ridin The Wave," and "The Devil's Movin In" on Ghost to A Ghost, and "Goin to Guttertown," "The Low Line," and "I'll Save My Tears" on Guttertown highlight both the excellent musicianship on the records, and Hank3's unmistakable, confident vocals.

Attention Deficit Domination allows the listener into Hank3's crunching, metal world of the heavy and the slow, complete with his renowned, fundamental percussion. The nine tracks hardly allow you to get up from the floor. With songs such as "I Feel Sacrificed" and the tormented "Livin Beyond Doom," Hank3 works a ground somewhere between devastation and high theatre.

"Both A.D.D. and Cattle Callin are very intense. It's very manic," Hank3 says. "It's hard to follow, even for the guys I play with. I'm playing everything on these two. It's very complex."

There are 23 tracks on Cattle Callin, featuring Hank3's driving, formidable guitar attack, with instrumentation build around the auctioneering and, in some cases, his own higher-register vocal treatment laid over the top. Metal fans will notice some tongue-in-cheek humor with titles such as "Heavy Cattle" and "Angus of Death." Also, fans of bluegrass will love the banjo-driven "Cattle Callin Lonesome Blues," featuring Mason.

"I was raised around it [cattle auctioneering] and it's pretty amazing how fast these guys are," Hank3 says. "Hip-hop has looped auctioneers. Bluegrass has messed around with it a little bit. This has never been done in the heavy metal world."

The September release of all three projects represents a new birth for Hank3, and he's happy to have the chance.

"Megaforce Records has helped me with my vision to do something that's never been done before," he says. "They're handling my distribution, and I wanted to flood the market and do everything different. I wanted to come out of the gate strong.

"I'm opening up the mind a little bit and bringing some different styles together."

Tour dates:
- July 8 at Exit/In in Nashville, TN
- July 15 at Exit/In in Nashville, TN

Corey Taylor's "Seven Deadly Sins"

The very outspoken Corey Taylor from Slipknot and Stone Sour decided that instead of writing an autobiography like everyone else does, he would write something very different. This is what he had to say about this:

“I’ve been threatening to write a book for a long time, but since every Tom, Dick and Harry writes an autobiography, I didn’t want to just do that. My approach to writing is the same as my approach to music: I don’t want to do what everybody else is doing.”

Our good friend Jim Florentine from VH1 Classic's That Metal Show, conducted an in depth interview with Taylor about his upcoming book "Seven Deadly Sins", his life and of course, his music." The three part interview premieres on Corey Taylor's official site on July 5th.

According to Roadrunner Records: much like the book itself, it’s a riveting and personal discussion, and we’re airing it in three parts so fans don’t miss a word of it. The three parts of the interview will premiere on three Tuesdays in July (July 5, 12, and 19) on Corey Taylor's official site, each at 5pm eastern time.

“Seven Deadly Sins” is Taylor’s candid, outrageous manifesto reflecting on the subject and nature of sin. The book will be released July 12 in the U.S and July 14 in the U.K.

UNEARTH turns Darkness Into Light

Ever since the mighty Unearth surfaced in the Heavy Music scene in 1998, they have kept delivering their global audience passionate music full of crushing riffs, and with highly energetic elements of chaos. With their fifth studio album titled "Darkness In the Light" (to be released July 5th in North America via Metal Blade Records), Unearth has proven once again that they sonically have what it takes to keep flying the Heavy Music flag up high with pride and plenty of adrenaline.

Produced by Adam Dutkiewicz from Killswitch Engage and Times of Grace, who has produced their previous three records, and co-produced by guitarist Ken Susi. "Darkness In the Light" possesses Unearth's signature sound and at first glimpse what stands out the most are the vocals that Trevor Phipps laid down on tape. He sounds better than ever. This is what he had to say about the production of the record:

"We started writing last summer between tours. Buz and Ken write the riffs, then they bring them to practice and all approve or disapprove. We started writing the record with Derek Kerswill, we figured that it wasn't working out since he was looking for something more Rock N Roll friendly, and this band is looking to go even heavier than the last album. More extreme!"

Unearth is considered one of the pioneers of Nu-Metal along with Shadow's Fall and Killswitch Engage, and the three of them together helped to establish the Massachusetts Heavy Music scene! Today they are ready to unleash their beastly new album, and to hit the road. Unearth will be part of these years Rockstar Mayhem Festival, and then they will be heading to Europe. Since Unearth's former drummer Derek Kerswill left the band before the recording of the new album, the band will be joined by drummer Justin Foley from Killswitch Engage, who also recorded the drums on "Darkness In the Light". Here is what Foley had to say about this:

“I’m really looking forward to playing with some old friends, and spending a summer full of beers and breakdowns!"

We had a chance to interview Unearth's vocalist Trevor Phipps about the present and the future of Unearth. Here is what went down:

Machine Head Announce Album Title, Release Date and European Tour

As we all know, Machine Head is currently working on their seventh studio album and are preparing to embark on the Rockstar Mayhem Festival! After releasing the first cut from their album, "Locust", the Machine Head camp seem to be steering their new album to the right direction both sonically and lyrically. Their new album is set to be released on September 26/27, 2011 via Roadrunner Records and its titled "Unto the Locust". Here is the Official press release:

Off on the distant horizon what appears to be a massive cloud can be seen blackening the sky. As it gets closer it becomes obvious that the "cloud" is no cloud at all, but a massive swarm preparing to descend on the shores of Europe and the U.K.. "The Eighth Plague" tour will make land on November 2nd and rip a swath across the landscape with a magnitude heretofore unseen.

MACHINE HEAD, in support of their newest crushing release "Unto The Locust" (out September 26/27, 2011) will collide with the land and lay waste to every city in their path. Accompanied by very special guests Bring Me The Horizon as well as DevilDriver and Darkest Hour, "The Eighth Plague" tour promises to be the most exciting, hard-hitting tour in recent memory.

"This will no doubt be the heaviest show you're going to see this year" states Machine Head frontman and guitarist Robb Flynn. "A lot of the greatest shows of our last touring cycle were in Europe and the U.K., so the prospect of this lineup combined with these crowds has us extremely stoked to get out there and tear it up! New material, great venues, killer fans... we absolutely cannot wait!"

Adds Bring Me The Horizon vocalist Oliver Sykes, "We're proper excited for these dates with Machine Head! We were listening to them before we even started BMTH, so to be going on tour with them is blowin' our minds! These will be our last U.K./Euro dates before we take a break to record our next album as well, so it's gonna be mental! We honestly can't wait."

Says DevilDriver vocalist Dez Fafara, "We always love touring in packages that offer a diversity of styles of metal. This is yet another one of those packages. I would like to personally thank Robb Flynn for inviting us to the party. See you in the fucking pit."

"We are so excited to announce our upcoming winter European tour with Machine Head, Bring Me the Horizon, and Devildriver" exclaims Darkest Hour vocalist John Henry. "European audiences are true purists when it comes to their love for metal music and great metal concerts, so there's no better place in a world for this tour to go down. It will take us to cities we haven't been to in a decade, as well as a few new ones. Meeting new friends and exploring other cultures has always been something we enjoy as a band, and getting to explore some of these places with this great bill for the first time is both a great privilege and an honor. If you can make it out to one of these shows please do, you won't be let down."

After over a year hiatus from touring, busy writing, recording and crafting their newest masterpiece, Machine Head cannot wait to be back in Europe and the U.K. on stage before some of the most diehard fans metal has to offer. A relationship forged with years of relentless touring is about to be reignited. Tickets go on sale June 24th. Give yourself Unto The Locust or be left to wander aimlessly in the aftermath.

Kelli Malella, vice president, publicity & advertising, Metal Blade Records, said, "When Kelly first brought up the idea of a tour to help develop new metal bands in the states, I immediately wanted to be involved. And not just for the sake of my own bands trying to launch their careers, but for all the bands out there just trying to get a break and land a U.S. tour. The Metal, Arise! Jeremy Wagner's Armageddon Chord

Jeremy Wagner has been dubbed as the creator of a new genre of fiction: "Heavy Metal Thriller"! With the release of his brand new novel titled "The Armageddon Chord" (August 22, 2011 via kNight Romance Publishing), Jeremy is reinventing himself once again and he is ready for a new challenge. The inspiration behind "The Armageddon Chord" came from his two passions: playing guitar and writing novels. So what is the Armageddon Chord?

"The Armageddon Chord in my novel, is the final chord that is played from this ancient evil song that was written in hieroglyphics. It was transcribed thousands of years later by this guitar player who is duped into making this song a reality." - Jeremy Wagner

Wagner has had quiet a journey through his career that has kept him happy and very busy. Not only has he written more than 70 published songs, recorded more albums, and has had two MTV videos, but he has also toured 16 countries with his bands Broken Hope and Lupara. And has been published in RIP Magazine, Terrorizer, Metal Edge, Microhorror and also on short fiction published works through Perseus Books, St. Martin’s Press, and Ravenous Romance Publishers.

Here are some of Wagner's other works:
- Romance Ain’t Dead, short story that appears as the first story in the zombie-romance anthology: Hungry For Your Love (St. Martin’s Press).
- The Creatures From Craigslist in the anthology, Fangbangers: An Erotic Anthology of Fangs, Claws, Sex and Love (Ravenous Romance Publishing).

He has already written two brand new novels, which are being revised as we speak! We had the priviledge of interviewing Jeremy about his upcoming novel "The Armageddon Chord" (August 22, 2011 via kNight Romance Publishing), as well as his musical career. Here is what went down:

The New York City Heavy Music Coallition

On Saturday, June 18, 2011, history was written at Webster Hall (The Ritz) at the No Remission "Through Blackened Skies" record release show. When we arrived at the venue at 4 o'clock to conduct interviews for an upcoming DVD that showcases the state of the New York City Heavy Music scene, the sun was shining and everyone was really pumped about this very special night for the entire community. After chatting with some of the bands and with some key figures from the scene, it was time for Left In Ruins to do what they do best: deliver a crushing display of brutal Metal filled of very technical guitar parts and positive energy!

After grabbing a few beers and greeting the crowd, the surprise of the night took center stage. Arcane Malevolence performed a highly energetic set and got the pit initiated for the storm that was about to unravel at Webster Hall. After a few minutes of peace inside the pit, Alekhine's Gun melted everyone's faces with their furious flavor of Heavy Metal! Goddamn, these guys are getting good and sounding tighter and tighter. The sense of unity that this band possesses is a message that is transmitted to the pit army that stands strong whenever they step on a stage.

Closing this historical night was No Remission who presented New York City with their brand new album titled "Through Blackened Skies" (Click to read our album review), we had personally seen this band live and they impressed the hell out of our ears. The band not only possesses great stage presence and highly technical songs, but they play each song with balls and make the pit army lose their minds!

At the end of the night the dance floor had a lot of blood, sweat and tears, and a lot of happy people! What is going in New York City right now with Heavy Music is blood rushing and extremely exciting. We can't wait to see the DVD which will include every bands performance and plenty of interviews! Stay tuned horns up throwers!

Jackass Star Ryan Dunn dead at 34

According to MTV news, Ryan Dunn from MTV's "Jackass", was involved in a fatal car crash that took his life on Sunday night (June 19) in Pennsylvania. According to various sources, Dunn had been drinking right before the accident and what started as a fun night ended up turning into a tragedy for all of his family, friends, and fans. Rest In Peace Ryan!

Here is the OFFICIAL press release:

"According to TMZ, the accident occurred at 3 a.m. on Route 322 and New Street in West Goshen Township. While it's unknown who was driving at the time, an unidentified passenger also died in the crash. April Margera, the mother of Dunn's "Jackass" co-star Bam, broke the news to WMMR 93.3's "Preston and Steve" radio show.

In the last photo Dunn posted to Twitter, he and two friends are seen drinking what may be alcoholic beverages. TMZ also reported that the car caught fire in the crash. A tow truck was later sent to the scene to remove the car. A photo obtained by an NBC affiliate in Pennsylvania, showed the wrecked car on the side of the road. As of press time, no further information was known about the accident.

Dunn kicked off his career doing crazy stunts and skateboard tricks in a series of online videos, which eventually led to his part in MTV's "Jackass" in 2000. The daredevil was a key member of the crew, appearing in "Jackass" spin-offs like "Viva La Bam" and "Bam's Unholy Union," as Bam's sidekick and often acting as the voice of reason within the zany crew. Dunn's new show "Proving Ground," in which he and co-host Jessica Choban test out action sequences from TV, games and movies, premiered on G4 last Tuesday.

When MTV News sat down with the "Jackass" crew last year, they named Dunn's first stunt for the show as one of their favorites in 10 years of the TV show and movies. "I loved when [Bam Margera] made Ryan jump into the poo factory, the 'Poo Dive' I think we called it," creator Jeff Tremaine said. " 'Cause that was horrible, but the best part was ... revealing his tattoos that we didn't know about. That was the first time we ever met Ryan."

He appeared in all three "Jackass" flicks and even took a stab at Hollywood, with a role in non-"Jackass" projects like the Jessica Simpson flick "Blonde Ambition" and on the NBC procedural staple "Law & Oder: SVU."

This is what those who were close to Ryan Dunn had to say about this sad news:

"Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie. RIP Ryan , I love you buddy." - Johnny Knoxville

"I feel like I lost a brother, Ryan Dunn was family and we are all deeply devastated." - Jeff Tremaine (Jackass Director)

"I have not been able to talk with Bam as he is in Arizona, but I cannot believe that his friend is dead. Ryan was a wonderful person he really was the sweetest and nicest guy - he was like my extra son, everybody loved him. He had a long-term girlfriend and she will be absolutely devastated - she has turned off her phone just now… I'm too upset to say anything else just now." - April Margera (Ban Margera's mother)

"I just lost my best friend, I have been crying hysterical for a full day. Millions of people are crying right now!" - Bam Margera

"I'm very Sad and Shocked to hear about Ryan Dunn. My thoughts&Prayers are with his Family." - Benji Madden tweeted (Good Charlotte guitarist)

"Just heard the news that my friend and die-hard Life Of Agony fan, Ryan Dunn of Jackass died this morning. The world is a less funny place right now. This completely sucks." - Alan Robert (Life Of Agony)

Please, whenever you drink leave the car at home or give the keys to somebody else!
